1. What Fydell is

Fydell helps engineers turn real projects into Engineering Passports and Builder Reports they can share, and helps hiring teams review that evidence in Hiring Workspace and Simulations. You can use Fydell on the web, in the desktop app, or with the command-line tool (CLI).

Fydell does not make hiring decisions and does not claim that a report predicts job performance.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 and able to agree to these terms. If you use Fydell for a company, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.

3. Your account

Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

4. Desktop app and CLI

The desktop app and CLI collect only the project folder you select. They apply the same skip rules as the web uploader: dependency and build folders, credential and environment files, and AI agent transcript folders stay on your computer and are not sent with project files.

Nothing in a project folder is executed during collection: no install scripts, builds, or git commands run on your code. Git metadata is read from files when present.

For engineering simulations started from the CLI, Fydell runs only the command you pass after -- in the task folder (for example npm test). It does not run other scripts from that folder. Output is recorded locally unless you submit; isolated runs on Fydell's servers are separate and labelled accordingly.

5. Your work stays yours

You keep ownership of the code, profile details and other content you add. You give Fydell a limited licence to store, analyse and display it only to run the service and to show it to the people you choose, such as through a share link or an application. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies an employer you applied to is entitled to keep.

You must have the right to submit every repository or folder you add, and your contribution claims must be honest. Do not upload an employer's or client's confidential code, credentials, or other people's personal data without permission.

6. Connected code hosts

You may connect a GitHub account through Fydell's read-only GitHub App, and a GitLab account through a read-only OAuth sign-in (scopes limited to reading your profile and API data). Fydell never asks for write access and does not change your repositories or projects on those hosts.

Only the repositories or projects you choose to share are read. Analysis uses repository contents and metadata such as commits, blame, and pull or merge requests to build evidence reports. Linking a username alone does not create a report; evidence appears only after a project is imported or analysed.

You can stop sharing a repository or project, disconnect the host, or remove an analysed project from Fydell at any time. Removing a project deletes its reports and findings from your Engineering Passport and from active share links and applications, as described when you confirm removal. The copy on GitHub or GitLab is not changed.

7. AI session capture

Optional live capture of AI-assisted coding sessions is available only when you start a session for one project folder, after a disclosure and two separate consents: one for AI-session content (prompts, reply summaries, commands) and one for project file references (paths and line counts, never file contents).

Capture runs only while the session is active and only through tool hooks you install in that folder. Past sessions are not imported. Pattern-based redaction runs on your computer and again on Fydell's servers; it reduces the chance of storing credentials but does not guarantee that none is stored.

Missing or partial capture means unknown, not that work was done without AI. Fydell does not compute an AI-dependence score.

8. Reports and AI drafts

Reports and evidence summaries are interpretations of the projects and submissions Fydell was given. They cite lines or findings where possible, can be incomplete or wrong, and are not certifications of skill, authorship, or hireability. Overviews that list specialties or coverage are derived from imported project evidence, not from a username alone.

Where Fydell credits lines to you, it relies on signals such as git blame and confirmed account emails. That is not proof of sole authorship. Some summaries and drafts are written by a third-party AI model from the material they describe. They are labelled as drafts and cite the evidence they rely on. You can add context and propose corrections to your own reports.

9. Sharing and visibility

Engineering profile and passport sharing is opt-in. Employers and other recipients see only what you include in a share link or application. There is no public directory of candidates or results.

A separate optional import on the website can summarise editor history you upload yourself; the CLI does not send editor or agent transcript files.

10. Hiring teams

You make every hiring decision and remain responsible for it. Use what you see on Fydell only to evaluate candidates for roles you are hiring for.

You are responsible for following the employment, anti-discrimination, privacy and automated-decision laws where you hire. That includes giving candidates any required notices, offering reasonable accommodations such as extra time when asked, and running any audits the law requires.

Do not put real candidate data into a workspace until your organization has agreed terms with Fydell. The demo workspace uses fictional data only.

11. Work samples

Candidates should complete Simulations themselves within the rules shown before they start, including any limits on AI assistance. Task materials and hidden checks are confidential; do not publish or share them.

12. Acceptable use

Do not upload malware, try to break out of the isolated environments code runs in, probe or overload the service, scrape it, or get around rate limits or access controls.

Do not impersonate anyone, harass anyone, or use Fydell to collect people's data for any purpose other than the hiring it is for.

13. Fees

Fydell is free for engineers. Hiring teams pay only under a written agreement or a plan they choose; nothing is charged without one.

14. Ending use

You can remove individual projects from Projects, disconnect GitHub or GitLab from Connections, and request account deletion from Settings. We acknowledge deletion requests and complete erasure as described in the privacy notice, including what employers may retain in their workspace.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

15. Disclaimers

Fydell is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suited to a particular hiring decision.

16. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, Fydell is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or hiring outcomes, and its total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Fydell in the twelve months before the claim or 100 US dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

17. Signed agreements

If your organization has signed a pilot or order agreement with Fydell, that agreement applies where it differs from these terms.

18. Changes

The effective date above changes whenever these terms do. If a change materially affects you, we email account holders before it takes effect.
