Getting started

The shortest path through Fydell for engineers and hiring teams, with each step naming the screen where it happens.

Projects stay private until you share them. Recipients only see what you included.

For engineers

Free. Your projects and reports stay private until you share them.

  1. Sign up. Create an account and choose the engineer path. You do not need a GitHub account to start.
  2. Add a project. Open Projects and choose one of four ways in:
    • GitHub. Connect GitHub with the read-only Fydell app and choose which repositories to share, public or private. Fydell reads every file at a pinned commit, shows which files were left out and why, and credits only the lines GitHub confirms you wrote. New results stay private until you approve them. Other hosts are not supported yet; use an upload instead.
    • Upload. Choose a folder or a .zip of code you are allowed to share. You review what will be read before anything is saved.
    • Desktop app. From version 0.2.0 the app uses the same import flow as the website. Download
    • Command line. The fydell CLI collects a local folder, previews it and uploads it. CLI docs
  3. Read the report. When the import finishes, open the project to see its Builder Report. Every finding links to the lines it cites, and each one says what it cannot tell you. If something is wrong, add a note or correction beside the finding; recipients see it as yours. How reports are made
  4. Share it. In the Sharing panel on Projects, choose the projects for one recipient, pin the versions or let the link follow your newest analysis, and set an expiry. Select Preview as recipient to see exactly what they will see, then create the link. You can revoke it at any time. To apply to a role, open the role page and choose which projects to include; withdrawing the application stops the team's access to them.

Invited to a task? Sign in with the address the invitation was sent to. Before you start, you see the brief, the time allowed, the AI tool policy and what is recorded.

For hiring teams

One role page per opening. Applicants choose what they share, and your team reviews it against the role's requirements.

  1. Create a role. Sign up as an employer, then open Roles and select New role. Paste the job description, confirm the required and preferred requirements, and choose what evidence you accept.
  2. Share the role link. Select Publish role page, then Copy the link and post it wherever you advertise the role. Applicants sign in, choose the projects to include, and apply. Each application shares those projects at pinned versions, so later analyses do not change what you review.
  3. Review. Applications appear on the role. Open one to read each requirement against the evidence the applicant shared. Where a requirement is not covered, send a question tied to it, or invite the applicant to a work sample.
  4. Decide. Record Advance to interview, Hold or Decline. Recording a decision does not notify the applicant. To tell them where they stand, share a status from What the applicant sees on the application.
